Muraho Friends,
Grace and peace to you in our Lord, Jesus Christ. We have been in prayer for you for several months since we first decided to join you in partnership. Finally, with joy, we turn to writing this letter of introduction. We have heard much about your country and your people through the people from our Presbytery that traveled to Rwanda last year and it is easy to catch their enthusiasm for the partnership between our two parts of the Body of Christ. It is our desire to learn more about the Ruhango Church, what are your joys and your concerns, the things we can pray for with you, the things we can help you accomplish in service to our Lord.
Thanks to the communications between Pastor Eugene and our Presbytery we have seen your faces and learned of the recent blessing in Pastor Beatha’s family, we rejoice always when God brings little ones into the family. We have enclosed a picture of our congregation as well as a picture of our Pastor and his family (Rev. Mark Gaskill, wife: Michele, children: Jackson, age 4, and Caitlyn, age 2). It was several weeks before Easter when the picture was taken, but given the speed of postal communication it may be much later when you receive our greeting.
Plumville is a small town surrounded by forests and farmland and lots of hills (we understand you know something about hills in Rwanda). Our congregation is a friendly bunch of folks who are very much like a large family. We worship together each week; we share each other’s joys and burdens with prayer and support. We are excited by the many ways that partnerships between Kiskiminetas Presbytery and the Gitarama Presbyterian churches have started to bear fruit and we hope that our life together will be full of God’s glory.
One of our goals here is Plumville is to be able to reach out in Christ’s love to people who have not heard or understood God’s grace to them. Another is to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and helping others to grow as well. For these goals we would appreciate your ongoing prayers. We have prayed for your peace and for God’s blessing upon the Ruhango Church. Please share with us some of the specific things you are asking of the Lord and we shall do the same. Our Presbyteries are set up to help us communicate and to help one another. If we can be of help in some material way, please let us know. What is your most pressing need? What do you need to glorify God more completely?
It is our great honor to begin this partnership with Ruhango and we trust that God will do great things between us and through us.
Until soon,
Your Brothers and Sisters in the Presbyterian Church of Plumville.
